RB Series silage balers bring strong reputation to North America – RealAgriculture

Massey Ferguson has brought its rugged, hardworking RB Series of silage balers to North America.

The machinery manufacturer rolled out the RB 4160V Classic at the National Farm Machinery Show earlier this year in Louisville, Kentucky. In this video report, Massey Ferguson marketing product specialist Lukas Dickerson notes that the RB Series has been working on farms in Europe for many years and has earned a strong reputation. Dickerson says the small 4 X 5 foot baler is a good fit for smaller beef farms that “want to do dry hay and silage bales, without the use of a cutter.”

The innovative camless pickup design allows for higher operating speeds in a wide range of crop types and moisture levels, and farmers can cut, rake and bale — all in one day, Dickerson adds. A bank of 17 hydraulically-operated knives can be controlled from the tractor cab to attain forage cuts as small as 2.65 inches in length.

The RB Series gives operators complete in-cab control with help from a full-colour touch-screen monitor that puts customization of the baler’s features at the operator’s fingertips. In addition, the baler’s ISOBUS design allows the use of any compatible tractor monitor for baling.
