Recently, we stumbled upon a viral video of this Masala Green Peas which has been shared by food blogger Saloni Bothra on her Instagram handle @_heresmyfood, and the whole process will make you question your own choice. This viral video has more than 10 million views and more than 1.5 lakh likes.
One look at this video, and you will never buy that packet of Green Peas again. From the water used for washing the peas to adding green colour, and toching the peas with hands, this viral video shows the reality of those delicious Green Peas namkeen packets.
One can see a man taking out soaked chickpeas from a tank-like container, where the colour of water looks like that from a gutter.
Next, these chickpeas are taken out of the container and added in another one where one can see green peas. The person in this video then adds artificial green colour in the tank to make them look like green peas.
With no gloves in hand, the person shuffles the chickpeas and green peas and adds them in a bucket which itself is very dirty.
Next, these green peas and chickpeas are sun-dried for a bit so that the chickpeas soak the colour.
Once the green peas and coloured chickpeas are dried, they are fried in an unhealthy looking oil and then centrifuged to remove the excess oil. In the end, salt is sprinkled on them and shuffled well. After which, they must be packed.
The whole video makes us realise that none of the snacks are made in hygienic conditions and people are questioning their childhood choices.
