GERMANY/CHINA: German compressor manufacturer Bitzer is establishing a joint venture in Jiangsu in eastern China to manufacture smaller-capacity rotary compressors.
The new 90,000m2 plant is currently under construction on a 160,000m2 site with production scheduled to commence in the first half of 2022. Initially up to 3 million rotary compressors per year will be produced to supply exclusively to the Chinese market in Zhenjiang. In the long term, the production of up to 6 million compressors a year is planned. Automotive Air Conditioning Compressor
“A lot is changing in China at the moment,” commented Rainer Große-Kracht, vice chairman of Bitzer’s executive board and chief technology officer. “The demand for air conditioning is growing and the decarbonization of heating cannot be stopped in China either, so the demand for small- and large-capacity heat pumps will grow enormously.” China currently accounts for more than 85% of the world’s demand for rotary compressors.
